Key West Seaplanes, the region's premiere seaplane charter company expands its fleet with an official dedication event.
On site for the introduction of her newest seaplane was aircraft owner, Julie Ann Floyd as well as Catherine Vogel, candidate for Florida State Attorney. Other guests included Peter Arnow of the Key West Business Guild and Nikali Pontecorvo, co-owner of Key West Seaplanes.
Julie Ann Floyd officially introduced this newest aircraft to the public. As a female seaplane pilot she also owns and operates all the aircraft for Key West Seaplanes. She excitedly flies all passengers but also offers "All Women" flights for those wishing to celebrate a flight with a female pilot. She hopes this experience may inspire other women to pursue a career in aviation.
Immediately following the dedication event, Catherine Vogel, candidate for Florida State Attorney went for a seaplane sightseeing flight along with her husband. The events were all captured by gifted photographer and long term Key West Business Guild member, Peter Arnow.
This newest seaplane is a custom-designed and custom-built Cessna 206 seaplane. It was built by world seaplane authority, Wipaire of So. St. Paul, Minnesota to the exact specifications of Key West Seaplanes. This one-of-a-kind luxury seaplane possesses numerous modifications to improve safety, performance and comfort. In March, this aircraft was named "Seaplane Grand Champion" at the 38th Annual Sun N Fun International Fly-In and Expo held in Lakeland, Florida. Aircraft owner Julie Ann Floyd was at the event to accept this outstanding accolade on behalf of her commercially operated custom seaplane. Floyd was accompanied at the air show by Bob "Wip" Wiplinger, owner of Wipaire, the seaplane's creator.
Floyd and Pontecorvo are co-owners of Key West Seaplanes, the region's premiere private seaplane charter company. Seaplane flights to Little Palm Island rank high on the the list of the most popular charters for the company. Pontecorvo says "If you are looking for the most exclusive and private of all destinations, Little Palm Island really fits the bill...and what better way to get there than by your own private luxury seaplane charter?". He also adds that the "...charter flights can originate anywhere on the mainland such as Miami, Fort Lauderdale, Naples, Orlando or anywhere along The Keys". The company's seaplanes are amphibious, meaning they can land on water as well as on land, thus making them very versatile for starting travel from a large land-based airport such as Miami International or smaller regional airports such as the nearby Tamiami airport.
