Dallas, TX (Vocus/PRWEB) March 02, 2011

Key-Whitman Eye Center announces the release of the Whitman-Shepherd Double-Ended Capsule Polisher. Recently, Key-Whitman Eye Center, a leading Dallas Lasik center, acquired the Whitman-Shepherd unit, designed by Jeffrey Whitman, MD, chief surgeon at Key-Whitman.

“We’re pleased and excited with the acquisition of the Whitman-Shepherd Double-Ended Capsule Polisher,” said Whitman. “We expect it to be one more tool to help make Key-Whitman one of the premier Lasik eye surgery centers Dallas has to offer.”

This device can clean 180 degrees of the capsule in each direction by means of a circular metal polisher at each end. Designed for removing lens epithelial cells from the inner surface of the capsule, the circular ends of the device are perfectly suited for cleaning the equator of the capsular bag in preparation for Crystalens® insertion. Its double-ended design gives surgeons a left-angled and right-angled polisher on one handle for extra convenience.

The Whitman-Shepherd unit is now available in the complete Crystalens® instrument set from Bausch & Lomb/Storz Opthalmics. Other instruments in the suite include the Wallace 6MM Capsulorhexis Gauge, Utrata MICS, Capsulorhexis Forceps, Lindstrom Lens Positioner, and Brown Crystalens® Haptic Placement Forceps. This set of instruments is perfectly suited for eye surgeons performing Crystalens® insertion procedures.
