Kindle™ Author’s Persistence Pays Off - Book Awards to Accept Kindle™, Nook™ and Certain Pdf Publications

When Steven Griffel, the author of FORTY YEARS LATER, a book available exclusively on Kindle found that the prestigious Sharp Writ Book Awards were only restricted to printed books, he immediately contacted Smart Book Lovers, the organizers to convince them to accept digital books. Smart Books Lovers eventually decided to offer a separate series of awards, the Sharp Writ Digital Book Awards for Kindle™, Nook™ and qualified .pdf books. The nominations for 2010 Sharp Writ Digital Book Awards are being accepted till April 15.

A spokesperson for Smart Book Lovers confirmed that Smart Book Lovers is now accepting nominations for Kindle™, Nook™ and qualified adobe pdf books for the Sharp Writ Digital Book Awards in the categories of fiction, nonfiction, autobiography & memoirs, young adult and children.

"We decided to offer Sharp Writ Digital Book Awards for Kindle™, Nook™ and qualified .pdf books because we believe these digital media are now commercially viable," explained Adam Beslove, a spokesperson for Smart Book Lovers and a member of the judging panel. "Digitally published books on platforms and format such as Kindle™, Nook™ and Adobe are rapidly growing in popularity, and we want to acknowledge, include and review books published exclusively in digital format. The Sharp Writ Digital Book Awards are at the forefront in publishing technology; hence it is fitting and proper for us to recognize innovation and creativity in writing without limitations of format."

"Congratulations to Smart Book Lovers for recognizing the importance of digital books," said Steven Jay Griffel, the author of FORTY YEARS LATER. "There is no wider distribution than digital publishing. FORTY YEARS LATER has been read on five continents because of its global availability."

Books published on Kindle™ or Nook ™ and qualified books in Adobe .pdf formats are being accepted for nominations. To qualify, the books in Adobe pdf format must have a verifiable ISBN. Nominations are accepted in in five categories - fiction, non-fiction, autobiography/memoir, young adult children. Nominations are open until April 15th. A nomination can be made at the S harp Writ Digital Book Awards web page on the Smart Book Lovers website.

Smart Book Lovers is also accepting late submissions for its printed book awards, the Sharp Writ Book Awards in some categories with a late fee. "Since we are now accepting the Digital Books Awards till April 15," said Yashpal Talreja, Coordinator for the Smart Book Lovers, "it only seemed fair to extend the deadline for our printed books awards where we can".

The awards will be presented on July 4th at a gala ceremony at the Annual Gathering in Detroit.
