Gene Kirby has over 29 years of experience in the industry having served in multiple roles across retail banking, commercial banking, marketing and executive management.
Betty Cowell has extensive experience in managing all aspects of retail banking including areas of productivity such as staffing models, branch productivity, and talent acquisition.

About Gene Kirby
Gene Kirby is President of C. G. Kirby Partners, LLC an independent management consulting firm focused on the financial services industry. He also serves as the Advisory Board Chairman of New Market Partners, LLC.
Mr. Kirby has over 29 years of experience in the industry having served in multiple roles across retail banking, commercial banking, marketing and executive management. Prior to forming his consulting firm Mr. Kirby was President of NewAlliance Bank in New Haven, CT where he was responsible for all lines of business within the company. Prior to joining NewAlliance, he was with SunTrust Bank in Atlanta, GA where he was Corporate Executive Vice President responsible for the retail line of business, the commercial line of business, consumer product management, call center operations and corporate marketing.
Mr. Kirby also has extensive experience in the area of online banking and eCommerce strategies. During his career with SunTrust he was the Director of eBusiness, where he managed the online strategy across all key business lines. He was responsible for internet marketing, online product development and all website content. Prior to joining SunTrust he served as the Senior Vice President of the Internet Development Group at Crestar Bank in Richmond, Virginia where his team led the launch of Crestar’s initial online banking platform, positioning them as the 6th bank in the US to go live with online banking capabilities.
Mr. Kirby is a former Chairman of the Consumer Bankers Association, active across the financial services industry and involved with multiple charitable and community organizations. He is a graduate of Virginia Tech and received his MBA from Duke University.
About Betty Cowell
Betty Cowell has over 30+ years of experience in the industry having served in multiple roles across retail, business, and wealth banking.
As a Director at Whitney Bank, she was responsible for developing strategic direction and leading execution plans for Retail and Business Banking Division. Prior to that she held several influential positions at Wachovia bank like Director of Deposit and Access Services, Director of Sales and Service Execution and Senior Vice President where she was responsible for different aspects of the bank to achieve profitability thresholds developed in capital plans and designing retail sales and service processes working with internal partners to create desired customer experience.
She is widely recognized as a leader with expertise in Branch Planning and Performance, Mobile Deposits, Payments, Retail Distribution, Sales and Service, Segment Strategy, with strong analytical, problem solving, and execution skills that drive results.
Ms. Cowell is a former Vice Chair of Board of Directors of Bank Administration Institute and Member of Government Relations Council of Consumer Banking Association.
