The end result was a unique backsplash that provided a much needed pop of color to the space. Because ColourGlas is custom made to fit the opening, the final product is virtually seamless and more vibrant than any other wall covering on the market.

HGTV recently featured Chicago’s Creative Mirror and Shower in the new HGTV show Great Rooms. In one of the first Great Room episodes, Design Star winner Meg Caswell did a makeover of a smaller and outdated kitchen for a single mother and her son. In order to transform the room, Caswell selected an impactful red backsplash product from Creative Mirror and Shower, ColourGlas. As compared to traditional tile or wallpaper, Colourglas back-painted glass is modern, clean, seamless, vibrant and hygienic.
HGTV worked with Creative Mirror and Shower’s business development manager, Victoria Gile, to coordinate filming and product installation in a Chicago home. HGTV wanted to showcase the back-painted glass as an innovative new kitchen product. ColourGlas is an up and coming backsplash solution that affordably transforms both small and large spaces with brilliant color, beauty and sophistication.
“Back-painted glass is an innovative product that is often used in bathrooms and kitchens abroad,” said Mark Pritikin, President of Creative Mirror and Shower. “In this episode of Great Rooms, Meg was able to create a statement with the ruby red back-painted glass backsplash in a smaller kitchen. The end result was a unique backsplash that provided a much needed pop of color to the space. Because ColourGlas is custom made to fit the opening, the final product is virtually seamless and more vibrant than any other wall covering on the market. Beyond kitchen backsplashes, there are many other applications for ColourGlas such as bar splashes, shower walls, closet doors, wall cladding, wall décor, furniture, countertops, and more.”
Back-painted glass rose in popularity in Australia and Europe due to its versatility; glass back splashes can be fabricated to fit almost any dimension. The finished product is grout-free and seamless which makes it extremely easy to clean and maintain, unlike uneven surface backsplashes such as tile and mosaics. Back-painted glass can also be custom painted to match any décor, creating one-of-a-kind looks.
“When HGTV first approached us about a partnership, we had no idea we would be helping to support a local designer as she produced her show Great Rooms. Creative Mirror is delighted that Meg won Design Star and that we were able to work with her to produce a show stopping kitchen for a local Chicago family,” said Pritikin.
