Working with someone who is clean, honest and efficient makes the remodeling process much less of a stress, and we thought we could be the type of contractor that helps make remodeling a positive experience.

For many years Scott and Virginia Hanson held very time-consuming, high pressured jobs in the finance field. They lived in New York, Virginia ran a project office on Wall Street and Scott was a Senior Vice President managing a data center. After many years of working in the corporate world the Hanson’s decided it was time to move on, “We were tired of always being on call,” said Virginia. “Plus we were getting to that age in the corporate world where people start looking to push you out.”
The Hanson’s packed up and left their hectic New York jobs to start out on a new venture. They moved back to their hometown of Chicago, and decided they wanted to own and operate their own business. “We wanted to do something completely different, “said Scott. “We wanted to get out of the office and go out and meet with people.”
After a lot of research, the Hanson’s decided to invest in the Kitchen Tune-Up home remodeling franchise. “We felt it offered the greatest avenue for revenue, “said Virginia, “Everyone has a kitchen, and everyone wants a great kitchen.” The Hanson’s had also moved a lot, which resulted in remodeling a lot of homes. “We dealt with good contractors and bad contractors. We found out how much easier it was working with a good contractor,” explained Scott. “Working with someone who is clean, honest and efficient makes the remodeling process much less of a stress, and we thought we could be the type of contractor that helps make remodeling a positive experience.”
The Hanson’s not only proved to be good contractors, but great contractors. They earned the 2006, 2007, 2008 and 2009 Super Service Award on Angie’s List. They received the 2005 Project of the Year Award, June 2007 National Customer Service Award and 2009 President’s Club Award, which are awarded by the Kitchen Tune-Up Home Office. “They were positive, enthusiastic and very efficient. They made suggestions and really listened to what I wanted and needed. Their crew was amazing; they were in and out in two days!” said customer Pam Pifer of the Chicago area.
After six and a half years the Hanson’s are still happy with their career change and financial investment. “We would definitely do it all over again,” stated Virginia. “The Home Office provided a family feeling and support when we began the process,” said Virginia. “They continue to provide sales webinars, yearly training and coaching that give us the confidence to go after projects.”
