Plano, TX (PRWEB) April 23, 2012
A leading mobile enterprise solutions provider, Kodiak Networks, and Sonim Technologies, the maker of the world’s toughest, ultra-rugged mobile phones, today announced they have signed a licensing, support and strategic marketing agreement to integrate Kodiak InstaPoC™ on a variety of specialty devices for outdoor and professional use.
Kodiak InstaPoC™, the next-generation of PoC v2 Push-to-Talk (PTT) technology, provides sub-second Push-to-Talk call set up and better than mobile call voice quality when deployed on 4G, 3G, and Wi-Fi data networks. InstaPoC runs on Kodiak’s highly available and reliable RTXi platform meeting the heavy real-time communication field requirements of workers in construction, transportation, security, facilities management, utilities, oil and gas and government public safety, for example.
Capabilities of InstaPoC include one-to-one and one-to-many PTT-based communication, centralized dispatch, enterprise-class administration, and next generation features such as availability and call alerts. Sonim and Kodiak have integrated Kodiak’s next generation PTT solution into Sonim’s line of ruggedized devices, beginning with the Sonim XP5520.
The Sonim XP5520 is built on the company’s 4th generation ultra-rugged platform that holds the Guinness World Record for the toughest phone. Way beyond military MIL-SPEC standards, the phone is fully submersible to 2 meters under water and specified to handle 2 meter drops onto concrete, and meets many other Rugged Performance Standards listed at http://www.sonimtech.com/rps.php
Sonim’s devices featuring the Kodiak PTT application are purpose designed for instant communications under the worst conditions. With strong antenna performance, extra long battery life, an active noise canceling microphone, and loud audio with a 23mm speaker, the phone helps keep workers safe. Enterprise-class GPS and navigation provide additional workforce management capabilities.
“We are very pleased to partner with Sonim on the development of specialty devices that bring the Kodiak mobile application suite to field personnel in these important vertical markets,” said Timothy Hall, vice president of business development, Kodiak Networks. “In particular, the ultra-rugged design is the perfect complement to our applications, which are designed to foster instant, group-based communications even in harsh environments.”
“Sonim’s strategic partnership with Kodiak supports our mission to offer a full range of workforce management applications for productivity and safety, and builds on our company’s history of innovation,” said Bob Plaschke, CEO of Sonim Technologies. “Kodiak’s next generation Push-to-Talk application on the world’s toughest mobile devices will enable our professional users in extreme environments to instantly collaborate and stay coordinated and safe.”
