Konica Minolta’s Idaho Sales Office 'Goes Green' with Move to Gold-Certified Office Space

Increase in Environmental Responsibility Provides Cost and Time Savings, and Increased Employee Productivity

Ramsey, NJ and Meridian, ID (Vocus/PRWEB ) November 6, 2009 -- Konica Minolta Business Solutions U.S.A., Inc. (Konica Minolta), a leading provider of advanced imaging and networking technologies for the desktop to the print shop, today announced that its thriving Idaho sales office has moved to a VengaWorks facility in Meridian, Idaho, in a move that showcases the company’s focus on the environment, ability to significantly save time and money, and provide a boost to employee productivity.

Konica Minolta chose the VengaWorks facility in Meridian because of the parallels to its business philosophy. The VengaWorks space is a green environment in construction materials and culture that allows occupying tenants to understand the environment as well as operate within it. VengaWorks has received Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) NC Gold certification from the U.S. Green Building Council. LEED certification is the internationally accepted third-party verification providing owners and operators a framework for the design, construction and operation of high-performance green buildings. ‘NC’ denotes new construction and Gold is the second-highest rating buildings can receive.

“VengaWorks’ business model has given my team a real look at what we can do as members of the Konica Minolta family to directly impact the environment beyond the machines we market,” said John Boyd, Branch Sales Manager, Konica Minolta Business Solutions U.S.A. Inc. “VengaWorks’ remote facilities offer all the same amenities that the main office offers. Minimizing the cost of travel is a major benefit of the property. In addition, our sales team can operate from the field, which results in more productive time on calls while still having access to the phone and a desk in the very town in which they are working.”

In this new facility, members of the Konica Minolta sales team log into the phone, and their personal phone number as well as the main number follow them. When a customer calls, the main line rings to all logged in employees no matter what facility they are located at. The result is that an account executive can meet clients where they are instead of having them drive to the main office in Meridian, allowing sales team members to spend less time in the car and more time in front of customers. This makes a huge reduction in time and fuel. VengaWorks’ facility uses the latest enterprise technology in operational equipment from the voice/data systems, Smart Board, and digital conference rooms to the wiring layout in the building.

“VengaWorks was able to rewire the power for one of our large machines in our demo room in only a few hours due to the in floor wiring,” said Boyd. “VengaWorks will be using Konica Minolta equipment at all remote locations as they grow, providing us with huge returns. Not only does it make for seamless transition from one facility to another, it allows all employees to be paperless and rely on Siebel to manage their customer files and all work-related activity.”

Significant achievements of the design process include:

  • 37% energy costs saving
  • 95% of the construction waste diverted from the landfill and recycled
  • 42% use of recycled content
  • More than 50% use of regional materials
  • 92% natural daylight throughout the building

To measure progress, Konica Minolta will monitor the VengaWorks facility for an increase in branch revenue. Working with 30 small- to medium-sized businesses directly, Konica Minolta will teach them the latest technology using Konica Minolta products. As VengaWorks grows from 30 to more than 100 members in the next eight months, Konica Minolta will leverage the future business advantages. As a member of Smart Business Ecosystem (SBE), Konica Minolta is helping to shape the future of Idaho.
