The June 2013 "Kovels on Antiques and Collectibles" newsletter is now available in print and online.

Carnival glass is featured in a sale report in the just-published June 2013 issue of "Kovels on Antiques and Collectibles." Carnival glass isn't easy to find these days at auctions and sales, but more than a dozen pieces sold at a spring auction in Virginia, and prices went as high as $2,100. Antique American safes in all shapes and sizes sold at a recent Pennsylvania auction for all kinds of prices. The sale included some Victorian parlor safes that auctioned from $1,000 to $10,000. Suites of stylish rooms—dollhouse-size—from parlors to bedrooms to garden sets, were sold at a California auction. Kovels' latest issue has pictures, descriptions and selling prices.

Read about early American furniture styles and see pictures and prices of some 18th-century chairs in a variety of styles. Kovels' newsletter also reports on Peter Max collectibles—posters, buttons, dishes and accessories—that sold in Pennsylvania, where a pair of sneakers with a psychedelic design sold for $509. And learn about British artist and illustrator Louis Wain's vintage picture postcards that feature humorous drawings of cats at play.

Kovels' June newsletter introduces a new column, New Uses for Old Stuff. This month the column shows how to re-purpose an old lampshade. Regular monthly features are here, too. The popular illustrated Collector’s Gallery has answers to readers’ questions about a junior-size Hoosier cabinet, a stoneware liqueur bottle, an American Wringer clock, and an Ideal Toni doll. June’s Dictionary of Marks lists marks used by Finnish art potters and the Buyer’s Price Guide has current prices of dozens of antiques and collectibles.

With its mixture of expert advice and reports on what’s hot in the market, Kovels’ newsletter has something to offer for both beginning and experienced collectors. “Kovels on Antiques and Collectibles” is available as a print subscription or as a digital downloadable version that is part of the Kovels.com Premium subscription.

Terry Kovel, well-known columnist and author, gives information and advice on collecting. She will discuss antiques and collectibles topics with accredited media. Photographs are available. Contact pr(at)kovels.com.
