On March 20th, in honor of National Women’s History Month, Kramer Levin Naftalis & Frankel LLP hosted Silda Palerm, Executive Vice President and Legal Director of Legal Momentum, the nation’s oldest legal defense and education fund dedicated to advancing the rights of all women and girls.

Ms. Palerm discussed the impact of occupational segregation on women. As a related component of this issue, she also described a new pipeline program addressing gender equity in career and technical education for young girls.

Kramer Levin’s National Women’s History Month event is part of the firm’s monthly speaker series, a diversity initiative the firm started more than five years ago. The purpose of these events is to showcase diversity in the workplace and educate lawyers about the importance of a diverse population.

“Silda’s message of the importance of gender equity is something that not only resonates within Kramer Levin, but remains a core value that the firm is committed to fostering and maintaining,” said Lauren Tapper, Kramer Levin’s Director of Diversity.

Prior to working in the music industry, she was an associate at Cahill Gordon & Reindel and later an Assistant U.S. Attorney in the Southern District of New York.

Kramer Levin’s diversity programs have been recognized by many of the organizations that monitor such efforts, including Multicultural Law Magazine, Vault, The Empire State Pride Agenda, and Corporate Equality Index.
