KTM has invested in young motorcycle riders for many years with our large line-up of minicycles, and now, with the KTM Strider we can welcome riders into the KTM Family at a much younger age
Rapid City, SD (Vocus) October 29, 2010
For Christmas this year, families that are motorcycle enthusiasts can share their passion with their toddlers.
Ready to ride is the new KTM Strider PREbike™, a revolutionary pedal-free bike designed specifically for children as young as 18 months. Unlike outmoded tricycles and training-wheels, KTM Striders are designed for safe use on dirt and every other terrain – providing young children both the skills and self-confidence they’ll need to quickly transition to a pedal bike and a Sportminicycle.
The KTM Strider marries all the action, performance and styling of the popular KTM line of street and off road race cycles with the unique child-friendly design and function of PREbikes™ made by Strider.
Strider is a global leader in the sale of balance/running bikes. PREbikes™, featuring a patented design, teach kids the necessary balance and coordination to ride two-wheelers at an early age without ever needing the crutch of training wheels. Typically, toddlers who refine their motor skills on a PREbike™ easily move on to pedal bikes and Sportminicycles years earlier than most kids.
“KTM has invested in young motorcycle riders for many years with our large line-up of minicycles, and now, with the KTM Strider we can welcome riders into the KTM Family at a much younger age,” says Jon-Erik Burleson, president of KTM North America, Inc. “We believe wholeheartedly that learning to ride on a PREbike™ will develop strong riding skills and have kids Ready to Race when they graduate to our minis.”
While tricycles and training-wheels restrict children to flat, smooth pavement, the KTM Strider PREbike™ permits toddlers to venture off road over dirt, grass, gravel, hills, inclines and wherever else their imaginations guide them.
That was the goal of Ryan McFarland, inventor of the PREbike™ and founder of Strider Sports International.
“The Strider PREbike™ was born out of my desire to teach my sons how to ride on two wheels at the youngest age possible,” says McFarland, a motorcycling fan since his own childhood. “I wanted to share the thrill and adventure of the sport with my children and now thanks to the new KTM Striders, we can share our family’s passion with motorcycling parents and their children around the globe.”
The KTM Strider PREbike™ will be available for only $109 each beginning November 3rd from http://www.StriderSports.com as well as the Strider network of authorized dealers. Videos of the new PREbikes™ in action can be found at http://www.StriderSports.com/ktm. PREbikes™ continue to be available in their six original colors: Red, Blue, Green, Orange, Yellow and Pink.
Each KTM Strider PREbike™ features:
- Bold KTM Styling: Color matched to the KTM big bikes with dirt-inspired action graphics that get kids excited to be like Dad.
- Sized Right: 6.9 pounds - built small and light so even the smallest kids can have full control over the bike.
- Highly Adjustable: Seat height adjusts from 11” to 16” from the ground (and up to 19” with the optional XL seatpost) & handlebar height adjusts from 20” to 22” from the ground – perfect for toddlers 18 month to 5 years old.
- Frame Design: Custom-welded thin-gauge steel frame with U.S. patented, performance-based frame geometry and integrated Launch Pad™ footrests located directly below the saddle allows children to learn advanced riding skills like gliding, standing, manual wheelies, and bunny-hops… all making the transition to dirt bikes that much easier.
- Tires/Wheels: Puncture-proof, super-lightweight, EVA-polymer tires with sealed bearings running on 8mm steel axles mean a maintenance-free bike that is always ready to ride.
