Best Companies 2011

This is a truly excellent achievement for Kumon and is a testament not only to Kumon, but more importantly to the people who work for Kumon.

Kumon Educational UK has picked up a Best Companies award in its first year of entering. With 638 study centres and more than 60,000 students nationally, Kumon is the largest supplementary education company in the UK. It is now also officially one of the best, after receiving ‘one to watch’ endorsement from the prestigious Best Companies survey.

On 8 February, Human Capital Development Manager Nicola Killeen and Deputy General Manager Jackie Thomson attended the Best Companies event in Milton Keynes to collect the award. Nicola Killeen said:

“This is a truly excellent achievement for Kumon and is a testament not only to Kumon, but more importantly to the people who work for Kumon. This was the first time that Kumon had taken part in the Best Companies process, and the purpose was to benchmark Kumon against other UK organisations and ascertain exactly where our strengths and areas for development lie. Our expectations were certainly exceeded, and this official endorsement goes to illustrate what we already know: that Kumon is indeed a great place to work. The award will be proudly displayed in our head office’s reception area where it will be seen by all staff, franchisees and visitors.”

Best Companies is an annual process in which the very best organisations within the UK are assessed via an employee survey against 8 key business areas. These are: My Manager, Leadership, My Company, Personal Growth, My Team, Giving Something Back, Fair Deal and Wellbeing. Kumon performed particularly well in the My Team and My Company areas.

Kumon Educational offers maths and English programmes to children of all ages and abilities through its network of franchised centres. Its study programmes are unique and are tailored to the needs of each child, developing long-term skills such as confidence and independence in learning, and giving them the means to realise their potential at school and beyond.

This is a fantastic piece of news for Kumon, not only in the UK but also around the world, and is something that all employees are very proud of.
