With prices so low here in La Quinta, buying property now is almost like getting in on the ground floor of a great stock.

Brad Schmett, Broker Associate with Luxury Homes by Keller Williams and real estate expert, has announced today that with the Palm Springs, California area luxury housing market stabilizing, La Quinta real estate has never offered greater value.

La Quinta, California, known as the “Gem of the Desert” offers a stunning blend of beauty, charm and opportunity. Named by the Robb Report as “The Best Place to Live for Golf”, La Quinta actually offers 25 golf courses, most of them world-class. Those familiar with professional golf will recognize the city as the home of the annual Bob Hope Classic golf tournament, now the Humana Challenge.

November through April is typically the best time to purchase luxury homes in La Quinta, California. According to Brad Schmett, “During November, La Quinta’s luxury home inventory will typically increase by 50 percent or more, as sellers who don’t need to have houses on the market over the summer relist their homes.” Schmett goes on to note that La Quinta's luxury real estate market is defined as homes valued at $1,000,000 or more. However, it is actually two separate segments: properties valued at $1 million to $3 million and those valued at over $3 million.

According to Schmett, who recently sold a $4.9 million luxury home at Hideaway in La Quinta, “Buyers in the luxury market are interested in more than just the property. They are buying the lifestyle of the community, and they want to be surrounded by other valuable homes.” Schmett, a broker with a dozen years’ experience focusing on luxury properties in the La Quinta and Palm Springs real estate markets, was broker/owner of his own successful La Quinta-based boutique real estate brokerage before playing an instrumental role in launching the La Quinta office for Luxury Homes by Keller Williams.

La Quinta, also known for world-class golf, offers three of the most popular luxury gated golf communities in the greater Palm Springs, California area. These include Hideaway, Tradition Golf Club and The Quarry at La Quinta. Schmett says, “For buyers, the deals available at these impressive La Quinta communities are remarkable, with luxury homes selling well below replacement cost.”

This is perhaps the most important thing for buyers interested in luxury La Quinta homes for sale to understand – “With prices so low here in La Quinta, buying property now is almost like getting in on the ground floor of a great stock. And while an investment in real estate will not be as liquid, a purchase now would definitely have stability. Moreover, you have potential tax benefits and a property you can use and enjoy. That has much more value than money sitting in a CD or in the riskier stock market,” says Schmett.

“Prices in the high-end market have in some cases dropped 60 percent or more from their peak in 2007,” says Schmett, “in part the result of foreclosure and distressed properties driving prices down and creating a situation where the rest of the market had to change their pricing strategy in order to be competitive.”

However, those interested in buying luxury real estate in La Quinta, California need to move quickly in order to take advantage of this wider availability and lower prices. High season for the area begins January 1, so now is the time to buy.
