Lubrication Engineers, Inc. (L.E.) has launched a new MONOLEC® Engine Oil specifically for the landfill power generation market. The LE 8947 & LE 8949 MONOLEC® Landfill Gas Engine Oils (SAE 40) are high performance straight-grade medium ash engine oils developed for landfill gas pumping engines & generation units. They are also recommended for stationary & mobile engines using sour fuels and spark plug ignited engines that have an operating range of up to 3,000hp.

The LE 8947 & LE 8949 MONOLEC® Landfill Gas Engine Oils (SAE 40) are high performance straight-grade medium ash engine oils developed for landfill gas pumping engines & generation units. They are also recommended for stationary & mobile engines using sour fuels and spark plug ignited engines that have an operating range of up to 3,000hp.

LE 8947 & LE 8949 have been formulated with salicylate chemistry which offers superior deposit control & resistance to oil nitration which results in extended lubricant drain intervals. Importantly they also contain L.E.'s exclusive wear reducing additive MONOLEC® as well as increased wear control additives which greatly reduce friction, heat & wear.

Key product features/benefits for these new landfill gas engine oils include:

  •     Improved resistance to halogen gas contamination which is often present in landfill gas.
  •     Minimizes deposits caused by landfill gas.
  •     Efficient detergent/dispersant additives to keep engines clean.
  •     Valve seat recession is minimized.
  •     Designed for engines requiring medium ash levels, yet a high TBN.

LE 8947 & LE 8949 MONOLEC® Landfill Gas Engine Oils (SAE 40) meet the performance requirements of many of the landfill gas engine original equipment manufacturers including: Caterpillar (3600), Cummins, Deutz, Ingersol, GE Jenbacher 1000-0125, Wartsila & Waukesha. L.E. 8947 field trials in Caterpillar 3406 engines have demonstrated extended oil drains with better acid control. Other LE 8947 trials in Caterpillar 3406 engines with high sulphur biogas also resulted in extended oil drains and better base retention.

What is MONOLEC®?
MONOLEC® is L.E.'s proprietary wear reducing additive which increases oil film strength & reduces friction, heat & wear by separating moving metal components & minimising metal-to-metal contact.
