NAVTEQ Signs Licensing Agreement for Use of LandSonar Predictive Speed Data

Licensing agreement gives NAVTEQ key traffic element for future products.

LandSonar™, a leading supplier of GPS analytics applications and services announced today that the U.S. Patent Office has approved the Company's patent application for a "System and Method for Evaluating Vehicle and Operator Performance," covering LandSonar's SpeedGauge™ fleet safety application and services. Notification of the patent allowance award has been received by the Company; the patent is expected to be issued within 60 days.

SpeedGauge is an innovative vehicle safety application that uses speed data collected from GPS-tracked moving vehicles to provide contectual vehicle speeding analysis and reporting. In commercial use since 2004, SpeedGauge has proved to be a popular and useful tool for fleet safety managers and their insurance companies to identify high-risk and manage high-risk driving behavior.

SpeedGauge is generally provided to end-user fleets as an add-on to commercial MRM/AVL vehicle tracking solutions and offered as an ASP web service by LandSonar. Publicly announced SpeedGauge customers include PeopleNet Communications and Astral Communications.
