LAN created a solution customized to our needs and understood how we use interpreter services to ensure all our patients receive the appropriate care and our providers can provide that care.

CarolinaEast Health System strengthens doctor/patient communications through their partnering with video interpreting services from Language Access Network (“LAN”). Targeted towards limited English proficient (“LEP”) and the deaf and hard of hearing patient populations, LAN provides its rapidly growing client base (more than 200 medical facilities nationwide) with around-the-clock access to the highest quality, trained interpreters available via our centralized video language centers. Access to timely interpreters helps ensure LEP and Deaf / Hard of Hearing patients receive the same standard of care as English speaking patients.

“We selected Language Access Network because of their unique partnership approach and 100% focus on healthcare,” said Megan McGarvey, CarolinaEast’s Director of Public Relations. “LAN created a solution customized to our needs and understood how we use interpreter services to ensure all our patients receive the appropriate care and our providers can provide that care."

“Martti” (My Accessible Real Time Trusted Interpreter) is LAN’s exclusive platform for providing immediate access to high quality interpretation resources with one button simplicity and full mobility throughout the hospital. A revolutionary mobile device, Martti, provides an easy to use, on-demand qualified medical interpreter service using LAN’s dedicated HIPAA compliant high-speed broadband network. Access to qualified interpreter services in a timely fashion helps providers make better clinical decisions, reduces the unnecessary testing that results from communication issues and drives increased patient and provider satisfaction.

“We are pleased to partner with CarolinaEast Health System to bring our industry leading service to their community,” said James B. Edwards, CEO of Language Access Network. “With the increasing diversity of the patient population nationwide, maintaining a uniform standard of care for LEP and Deaf patients is of paramount importance. The team at CarolinaEast is leading the way in addressing this growing problem and providing a real-time solution.”

Language Access Network provides clients with real-time video and audio interpretation capabilities in more than 200 languages that help clients improve operations, enhance financial performance and build trusted patient encounters through clear communication.
