Saint Ann Church in Cleveland Heights Announces Christmas Concert!

Saint Ann Church in Cleveland Heights, OH announced today that its first annual Christmas Concert will take place on December 9 at 7:30 pm. The concert will feature parish music professionals as well as Caroline Goulding, Jay Dubin, Ariel Clayton and other students from the Cleveland Institute of Music. Bill Laufer, concert coordinator, said, "The program will include music selections from Corelli, Handel and traditional Christmas Songs". Fr. James Singler is Pastor at Saint Ann Church.

Cleveland, OH (Vocus/PRWEB ) November 19, 2008 -- Christmas At Saint Ann is the first of an annual Christmas Concert series by the Saint Ann chamber ensemble. The concert will take place at Saint Ann Catholic Church in Cleveland Heights, OH, on Tuesday December 9 at 7:30 p.m. This first concert will feature selections from A. Corelli's Christmas Concerto Grosso Op. 6. No 8, Handel's For Unto Us a Child is Born and other traditional Christmas Songs. Jim Bockhoff will act as the lead singer. The concert is free and open to the public.

The Saint Ann chamber ensemble features musicians from the parish as well as the Cleveland Institute of Music. Amongst the Cleveland Institute of Music students will be Caroline Goulding and Ariel Clayton on violin and Jay Dubin on clarinet. Bill Laufer, President of Laufer Film, said, "Caroline Goulding is a truly gifted young performer who plays with a sophistication beyond her years!"

Ms. Goulding will graduate early this year from Gilmour Academy. She started the violin at age 3 and is now moving on to advanced studies and a crowded appearance schedule which includes an upcoming date at Carnegie Hall. Other appearances for Goulding have included the Cleveland Orchestra, the Cleveland Pops Orchestra, the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra, the Aspen Music Festival's Concert Orchestra, Sinfonia Gulfcoast, Atlantic Classical Orchestra, Red , The Cleveland Women's Orchestra, the Lakeside Symphony Orchestra, the International Symphony Orchestra and the Detroit Symphony Orchestra.

Linda and David Cerone have been the teachers for another member of the Saint Ann Chamber ensemble, Ariel Clayton. Ms. Clayton began violin studies at the age of 11. Mr. Cerone is the immediate past President of Cleveland Institute of Music.

Franklin Cohen, principal clarinetist of the Cleveland Orchestra, is the guiding force behind yet another member of the Saint Ann chamber ensemble, Jay Dubin. Jay Dubin started playing the clarinet at age 10. The New Jersey native is a music performance major at the Cleveland Institute of Music. He also plays the saxophone for the ensemble. Mr. Dubin is another Carnegie Hall performer and appeared there in April as well as recently playing for Pope Benedict XVI in Rome.

Jim Bockhoff, lead singer for the ensemble, is a musician who sings in local Churches and other venues. He sings the full repertoire of music from upbeat pop to classic polyphony to Gregorian Chant. Jim is a student of Carmelite Monasticism, and sings the ancient languages and chants of the Church. He is also a songwriter and has composed many contemporary pieces of music for Prayer and Liturgy.

The Cleveland Institute of Music (CIM) is a leading international conservatory, with graduates who perform with the world's most acclaimed musical organizations, including 37 members of the Cleveland Orchestra.

The Saint Ann Christmas concert will be held in the magnificent historic church main church building. Free Parking - all are welcome. The church is located at 2175 Coventry Road (at Cedar Road) in Cleveland Hts, OH 44118.

Concert coordinators Bill and Tiffany Laufer are a father - daughter film team and recently finish the new Christmas feature film Christmas at Maxwell's.
