We are honored to be awarded the SBA’s Women-Owned Small Business of the Year for 2012. SCORE and the SBA have provided valuable assistance over the years and we appreciate all of the support they have provided La Vita.

La Vita Compounding Pharmacy was named the SBA’s 2012 Women-Owned Small Business of the Year. Candidates for the award were taken from businesses in San Diego and Imperial counties. The nominations came from business organizations, lending institutions, chambers of commerce and trade associations. Each year the SBA convenes a panel at the San Diego district office to review local nominations and select winners in various categories. District office nominees are sent to SBA’s regional office in Los Angeles for judging, and the regional office then submits nominations for national consideration. The regional office covers California, Nevada, Arizona, Hawaii and Guam.

“As America celebrates 59 years of SBA’s existence, this is an excellent opportunity to honor the small businesses that have helped make our nation great,” said Ruben Garcia, the SBA's San Diego District Director. “SBA has helped well over 20 million Americans start, grow and expand their businesses, placing tens of billions of dollars in loans into the hands of entrepreneurs in all sectors of the economy."

La Vita was nominated by Paul Hollenbach of SCORE and stated “Debra Hubers and Christine Givant were nominated because of their commitment to their dream of building a thriving business. They have both personally sacrificed extensive time and financial resources without being afraid to seek help and evaluate suggestions. They have that intangible “fire in the belly” which enables them to remain open to advice and suggestions, while ultimately making business decisions based on informed “gut feelings. These are the traits necessary to take a start-up and grow it into a large successful company. It is no surprise to me that they are one of the fastest growing companies in San Diego!”

“We are honored to be awarded the SBA’s Women-Owned Small Business of the Year for 2012. SCORE and the SBA have provided valuable assistance over the years and we appreciate all of the support they have provided La Vita.” stated Deb Hubers and Chris Givant, RPh Co-Founders of La Vita.
