Law firms can get the most out of their Web marketing dollars by focusing on one authoritative website instead of using multiple “satellite” sites, Consultwebs.com CEO and President Dale Tincher told an audience of lawyers from across the country at the recent PILMMA Super Summit.
Tincher shared his insights during a special panel discussion on law firm Web marketing hosted by the Personal Injury Lawyers Marketing and Management Association (PILMMA) on June 8 at the Sheraton Convention Center Hotel in Myrtle Beach, S.C.
According to Tincher, law firm websites used to get a “bump” in search rankings by using multiple websites with keywords in their domain name.
However, Google’s Exact Match Domain (EMD) update, Google Local and the search engine giant’s increased emphasis on having high-quality, frequently updated website content has changed the landscape, Tincher said.
“Instead of splitting your marketing dollars among several sites that are hard to derive value from, it’s better to concentrate instead on a single site where you can focus on beating out your competitors,” Tincher said. “Having multiple law firm websites is just not a good investment. It can hurt your rankings and cost you money.”
