McMaken gave some examples of the types of questions that people frequently have. "Divorce is a life-changing situation that impacts family members on many levels. Divorcing or separating couples need answers to questions like how the court will divide their assets and liabilities, what will happen to their children, how will their credit be affected, how long it will take, how will job loss affect the dissolution, and how much it will cost," says McMaken.

McMaken went on to say that frequently asked estate planning questions include the basics, such as what is a will, what is a trust (or a living trust), how does a living will work, what happens in probate, what is a deferred gift and how do I make one, and what are the possible tax consequences? In the area of business planning, McMaken noted that while entrepreneurs have great ideas for starting a business, they need to take several legal planning steps to help ensure their success. How do they start, run and finance a business? What is the best form for their business: corporation, LLC or partnership? What do they do first? How do they hire people and avoid a situation where they need to fire them? What is the best way for their business to set up and account for their books?
