In celebration of its fast-approaching 175th Anniversary, the manufacturer of one of the most extensive lines of lawn and garden equipment unveiled a new educational platform earlier this week, called BrinlyU. This free online resource will provide news, articles, videos, and tutorials that focus on how to attain and maintain a beautiful, healthy lawn and garden.
Tracing its roots back to 1839, Brinly-Hardy Company has cultivated a rich history of developing high-quality, innovative lawn and garden products. BrinlyU catapults this legacy into the digital age, providing homeowners with a multimedia library of lawncare know-how.
In the early 1800’s, a blacksmith known as “Little John” Brinly made plows when he wasn’t shoeing horses, mules, and oxen. In 1837, Brinly’s son, Thomas E. C. Brinly, had the idea of building a one-piece steel plow using a saw blade. This saw design, with its smooth-scouring steel moldboard, answered the needs of Southern farmers working with heavier soils. Demand for the plows grew quickly, and Brinly moved the booming business to downtown Louisville, where he formed a partnership with James E. Hardy in 1839.
Today, the business is still family-owned, led by 5th generation CEO Jane Hardy. The company manufactures broadcast spreaders, dethatchers, aerators, lawn vacuums, sprayers, utility carts, sweepers, rollers, UTV blades, ground engaging equipment, and a complete line of professional-grade spreaders. Every Brinly-Hardy product is designed and built in Jeffersonville, Indiana.
This breadth of lawn and garden knowledge is being compiled for the first time. From spring seeding to leaf removal, from aeration to fertilization - you’ll find your answers at BrinlyU.
