This month we celebrate the 200th birthday of the 16th President of the United States, Abraham Lincoln. Prior to his taking office, Lincoln practiced law in the Midwest, primarily in Illinois. Having handled a variety of cases, scholars today are just beginning to examine Lincoln the lawyer, and how his practice impacted his decision-making as the country's leader.

Robert A. Clifford, nationally renown personal injury attorney, takes a look at Lincoln the lawyer and offers some insight into how Abraham Lincoln practiced law in the 19th century.
