We are proud of the volunteers and staff who worked hard to provide innovative services and programs for our members. We hope this encourages other governmental entities to use similar tools to benefit their constituents.
Austin, Texas (PRWEB) November 21, 2008
The State Bar of Texas, http://www.texasbar.com, is pleased to announce that it is the winner of the 2008 Excellence in New Communications Award in the External Communications and Communities Category, Government Division. The award winners were announced at the Society's awards gala at the Hotel Marlowe in Cambridge, Mass. on Friday, November 14th.
The Society for New Communications Research Awards program (http://sncr.org) honors innovative organizations that are pioneering the use of social media, ICT, mobile media, online communities, virtual worlds, and collaborative technologies in the areas of media, marketing, public relations, advertising, entertainment, education, politics and social initiatives.
The State Bar of Texas was recognized for Texas Bar Circle, an online social and professional network exclusively for Texas lawyers and the first of its kind by a bar association. Texas lawyers are using Texas Bar Circle to re-connect with old classmates and colleagues, find business and career opportunities, and connect and communicate with other attorneys who have similar interests. The community platform is provided by Affinity Circles of Mountain View, California (http://www.affinitycircles.com).
"This State Bar of Texas project is a great example of the successful and innovative use of new communications solutions and social media practices to enhance communications and relationships," commented Mike Manuel, SNCR Best Practices committee chairman.
"We are honored that Texas Bar Circle has been recognized by leaders in the area of new media and communications," said Michelle Hunter, executive director of the State Bar of Texas. "We are proud of the volunteers and staff who worked hard to provide innovative services and programs for our members. We hope this encourages other governmental entities to use similar tools to benefit their constituents."
All the winning case studies submitted to this year's SNCR awards program have been published in New Communications Review at http://www.newcommreview.com/index.php?s=awards.
