Interaction Associates President and CEO Linda Dunkel will headline the 2007 Top Small Workplaces conference, with a workshop designed to develop effective leaders to achieve stronger results by engaging their employees.

Dunkel will be among several CEO speakers at the October conference, sponsored by the workplace advocacy organization, Winning Workplaces, and designed to provide practical wisdom from real-world business leaders. Top Small Workplaces will be held on October 3-4, 2007 at the Mid-America Club in Chicago.

"A key challenge in business today is how to develop effective leaders to fully engage employees - all the data show that engaging leaders get stronger results from their people," said Linda Dunkel. "When workers are invested, they love and "own" their work, and they make additional discretionary effort - they take on and own more responsibility," said Dunkel.

The Top Small Workplaces conference honors the best small companies and organizations in 2007 as determined by The Wall Street Journal and Winning Workplaces. Dunkel won the Best Bosses award in 2006, a national honor sponsored by Winning Workplaces that acknowledges the most innovative and inspirational leaders of midsized and small businesses across America. Winning Workplaces is a nationally known clearinghouse for best practices in workplace excellence and innovative people practices.

In a pre-conference workshop at the Top Small Workplaces conference, Dunkel will focus on key aspects of how businesses can develop effective leaders who practice engaging leadership. "Many companies are flattening their decision-making hierarchies to give employees and first line managers more authority and autonomy," said Dunkel. "That is a good first step, but leaders need to be equipped with collaborative skills to be effective in that environment. Collaborative leaders --- who coach, listen, confront, and resolve issues --- keep employees engaged, and help their companies thrive," she added.
