Learnable allows individuals to put a value on their knowledge—and to profit by sharing it

New social online learning website Learnable is calling for everyday experts to join the ranks of its course creators.

http://learnable.com has made it possible for people with expertise in almost any field to easily create great online education experiences—and sell these experiences to students around the world.

Instructors are already offering online courses in topics as diverse as:

  • Blogging
  • Yoga
  • Social Media Marketing
  • Playing Guitar
  • Video Production
  • Programming
  • Digestive Awareness
  • Punctuation

Create Once for Ongoing Sales

The industry-first Learnable platform guides instructors through the process of product creation and delivery. Courses can contain articles, exercises, videos, and other downloadable resources, which the instructor creates and packages as serialized lessons.

Learnable online courses are entirely browser-based, allowing for a seamless educational experience: students need no special software to join in. And once it’s created, a course will remain on sale at learnable.com until the instructor closes enrolments.

“Learnable allows individuals to put a value on their knowledge—and to profit by sharing it,” explains Learnable Co-Founder Leni Mayo.

“The site connects skilled individuals with students who want to gain those expertise,” he says. “Students can sign up and take a course whenever they like, so instructors enjoy a constant stream of new enrolments.”

Social Benefits

Learnable breaks new ground in social online learning, connecting students with everyday experts around the world. But as Mayo explains, the instructors aren’t the only source of knowledge on the site.

“Learnable’s social Q&A tool lets students engage with instructors, but also with each other,” he explains. “Students ask and answer questions, share experiences, and build knowledge.”

In this way, he says, Learnable replicates the rich in-class learning experience, regardless of instructors’ and students’ physical locations.

More information on the service is available at learnable.com.
