The app allows you to gain a deeper appreciation for the Amazon by experiencing it for yourself.
MANAUS, Brazil, (PRWEB) March 05, 2013
Independent developer and photographer Leonide Principe has announced the release of the “Ariau Amazon Tower” app, an interactive exploration of the Amazon Rainforest for iPhone.
The “Ariau Amazon Towers” app is based on the award-winning book of the same name, highlighting the natural beauty of the treetop resort and the magnificent Amazon Rainforest surrounding it. The only jungle hotel resort in the world built completely at tree-top level, the Ariau Amazon Towers was chosen as one of the Travel Channel’s 1000 places to see before you die.
The app is the collaborative work of Principe, the app's photographer and developer, and Author Francisco Ritta Bernardino, owner of Ariau Amazon Towers.
Specially designed for iPhone users, Principe’s “Ariau Amazon Towers” app captures all 35 chapters of the book’s vivid photography, detailing the lush flora and fauna inhabiting the world’s largest rainforest. App users can stroll through and experience the Amazon as a natural and cultural phenomenon unlike anything they have experienced before.
From a global perspective, the app also serves to encourage and reinforce the urgency to establish a new respect for and relationship with the delicate bioregion and nature of the rainforest.
The “Ariau Amazon Towers” app is specially designed for the iPhone’s small screen, providing users with more than 500 hi-res photographs from the author’s collection. Breathtaking close-ups of the region’s people, animals, and rich vegetation offer viewers instant access to these stunning and emotional images, assembled in book format for intuitive browsing.
The app also includes a 14-minute documentary from French explorer, environmentalist, educator and film producer Jean-Michel Cousteau, shot during an expedition in the region. App users are provided with metadata information (camera and lens used, aperture, speed, etc.) of the most important images.
Subtitled “Evocative Emotions Committed to Regional Sentiment,” “Ariau Amazon Towers” is more than a book about the eponymous treetop hotel in the Brazilian rainforest that attracts visitors from around the world. Through his camera’s lens, Principe captures the widest imaginable range of emotions conjured by this magnificent landscape, and the interactive fabric woven between the individual participants in the overall ecosystem that is the Amazon Rainforest experience.
The nature photography contained in the “Ariau Amazon Towers” app represents a small portion of Principe’s larger project – a selection of 25,000 RAW images of Amazon Stock Photography, his photographic file compiled to define the region as a whole; its strangeness, landscapes, flora, fauna, indigenous and folkloric context, and ecotourism.
"The app allows you to gain a deeper appreciation for the Amazon by experiencing it for yourself," Principe says. “It shows the importance of protecting the fragile and vital environment of the rainforest."
Principe’s breathtaking photos are accompanied by descriptive text from author Francisco Ritta Bernardino and photographer Leonide Principe, who together also created the “Amazon Emotions.”
The app, which can be downloaded to an iPhone or iPad through Apple iTunes, for $2.99, provides an instant journey through the rainforest for photography buffs, environmentalists, armchair travelers, children – anyone with a fascination for the world and its amazing wonders.
