The 2012 awards received entries from 17 nations and territories.

More than 1,200 nominations from organizations of all sizes and in virtually every industry were submitted this year for consideration in a wide range of categories, including Entrepreneur of the Year, Executive of the Year, Company of the Year, Mentor of the Year, Women Helping Women, and Communications Campaign of the Year, among others. Mathews won in the Female Entrepreneur of the Year category for Business Services with 10 or Less Employees.

"I love that the Stevie Awards for Women in Business were created to recognize the amazing work of the women around this country and around the world that are working to help build our national and global future,” Mathews said. “I believe that women entrepreneurs are what will save our economy. As the Dalai Lama said, "Western Women will Save the World." That is what my work is about and I'm grateful to be in such amazing company with other Stevie award winners and to receive recognition for my work."
