Liberty University will now offer bilingual degree programs to Hispanic Pastors and Lay leaders. The university received permission from its regional accrediting body on September 16 to begin offering four bilingual programs online using dual-language versions of degree programs currently offered through Liberty University Online.

As a leader in online education, Liberty recognized the need in the Hispanic community and the demand to continue their education in a bilingual format. Liberty’s growing relationship with the National Hispanic Christian Leadership Conference (NHCLC), helped identify the need of many NHCLC members who expressed interests in studying in particular ministry-related fields. Through LU En Español (LUE), they are able to earn their degrees in a format tailored to their own educational needs.

“I was thrilled to see that Liberty University opened the doors to my community. As a bilingual Christian, I feel the need to master complex biblical and theological concepts in a language I feel most comfortable,” states Carmen Luisa Cruz, a bilingual student in the Liberty University Online program.

Cruz further emphasizes, “As a mom and business owner, it is very challenging to raise a family, work and go to school. Liberty University has allowed me to fulfill my calling to learn the word and to be a good Christian mother and wife while remaining a bread winner in the world of business.”

Liberty wants to meet the specialized needs of this new student population and to support their determination to achieve success in their careers and ministries.

“We anticipate that allowing students to complete most of their academic requirements in Spanish, especially writing assignments and interactions with professors, will increase their success rates,” Vice Provost of Graduate Studies and Online Programs Dr. Ron Hawkins added.

As the world’s largest fully accredited Christian University, Liberty University’s leadership anticipates that the bilingual program offerings will continue to expand. Applications are currently being accepted for the upcoming fall term.

LUE is equipped with a staff of bilingual admissions counselors and employees to assist in the application process. As applications pour in, LUE counselors are opening the doors of learning and assimilation to the Hispanic community.
