The Post Office Highlights Levels of Lapsed Life Insurance Policies

Research reveals worrying numbers of people not renewing life insurance cover

New research has shown that one in 12 UK residents has allowed their life insurance policy to lapse. This is particularly true of the over-65s with one in seven admitting to having lapsed their life insurance policy .

Given this finding, Post Office Life Insurance is reminding people of the benefits of life insurance cover. Life insurance can provide protection from a variety of factors including debt and mortgage repayments should the worst happen.

The Post Office also recommends that renewal time for a life insurance policy is an opportunity for people to re-evaluate their life insurance cover in order to ensure that they are still adequately protected. If a policyholder's life circumstances change, they may not have the right level of life insurance cover in place.

Post Office Life Insurance recommends that customers regularly review their policy details, to ensure their needs are still catered for by their life insurance cover. Any concerns should be discussed with the current life insurance provider if customers wish to ensure their cover will allow for changes in circumstances.
