Lifestyle brand spreads the power of optimism through social media and raises over $1 million for kids in need.

“We use social media as a platform to allow our community of optimists to meet, engage, and inspire,” said David Oksman, Head of Marketing at Life is good. “The community inspires us with how they spread the power of optimism and help kids in need.”

Life is good®, the Boston–based lifestyle brand, has been nominated as a finalist for the Social Media Society’s prestigious Social Media Influencer Awards in recognition of the company’s marketing campaign around the 2011 Life is good Festival. Over $1 million for the Life is good Playmakers was raised during the annual two–day fundraising music festival, held on September 24-25 at Prowse Farm in Canton, Massachusetts. Life is good spreads the power of optimism through its colorful collection of apparel and accessories and through its nonprofit action arm, the Life is good Playmakers, helping kids overcome poverty, violence and illness.

“The Social Media Influencer Awards were created to recognize social media campaigns and initiatives that are innovative and also move the dial in terms of meeting goals and objectives,” said Persia Tatar, Founder of the Social Media Society. “I'm excited to have Life is good as a finalist…not only did they use social media to drive marketing results, but they were very successful in raising money for charity.” The winners will be presented during Social Media Week in February, where Life is good will join other nominees, including Coca Cola, Nike, State Farm, Expedia and Chevy.

Additionally, leading trade publication Outdoor Magazine’s 2011 Social Media Awards has selected Life is good as the winner of “Twitter’s Most Followed,” in recognition of the brand’s nearly 80,000 followers. The award celebrates brands that have successfully harnessed the power of social media to engage with the greatest number of fans. In 2010, Life is good received this award for its community of nearly 1.1 million Facebook fans.

“We use social media as a platform to allow our community of optimists to meet, engage, and inspire,” said David Oksman, Head of Marketing at Life is good. “The community inspires us with how they spread the power of optimism and help kids in need.”

The Life is good Community will gather in person to celebrate optimism and raise funds for kids in need once again at the 3rd annual Life is good Festival later this year. 100% of Life is good's profits from the fundraising music festival will go toward its goal of raising over $1 million for The Life is good Playmakers. Dates, artist line–up and ticket information will be announced soon on lifeisgood.com/festivals.
