The entire region is undergoing a rebirth, complete with modern construction methods that – despite unique cultural and security challenges – must conform to IBC standards

Almco Group of Companies, one of the largest firms involved in the Iraq reconstruction effort, hired FRA to work on the complex, which is being built on the former Saddam Hussein family compound in the provincial capital. Called the Ramadi Rule of Law project, it is scheduled to open in June 2009.
FRA's Code Services Group, recognized experts in interpreting and applying the International Building Code (IBC) to various construction types, has completed design assistance for Phase I, which involves renovating two former palaces to create individual courthouses and support facilities.
FRA has begun design assistance for Phase II, which will involve building a variety of housing and classroom structures for workers and detainees.
"We're proud to be associated with this project, which is expected to make a significant contribution toward restoring order to the region," said James R. Burton, FRA senior plans examiner and manager of its code compliance services.
Earlier this year, Burton, who has 29 years of code compliance and construction experience, managed another design services review in the Middle East after FRA was retained to work on a large private high-rise project in Doha, Qatar, Saudi Arabia.
"The entire region is undergoing a rebirth, complete with modern construction methods that – despite unique cultural and security challenges – must conform to IBC standards," he said.
