Linda D. Patten’s new children’s book, “Princess Alese and the Kingdom of Serenity” (published by Trafford Publishing), teaches young readers that friendly gestures can change the atmosphere of a place and the morale of other people.
“Princess Alese and the Kingdom of Serenity” is about a prince who sets out to find his princess outside of his kingdom. His search leads him to a small village where he finds a very loving and beautiful young lady. He takes her to his kingdom, and she transforms the kingdom of Coldville from a bitter, cold, unfriendly kingdom to a warm, friendly one.
An excerpt from “Princess Alese and the Kingdom of Serenity”:
What is the matter with my beautiful princess?” the prince asked. Princess Alese responded, “The people here seem so cold and mean. Why is that, my prince?” “I don’t know, Princess. This is the way it has always been, the prince replied. Princess Alese thought about this, then said, “I think it is time we change that.” So that’s what princess Alese did.
Patten believes children will like the vibrantly illustrated princess story, but she hopes parents, teachers, and counselors enjoy the lessons the book imparts on young people. “In today’s society, we deal with bullying and mean people,” she says. “Sometimes, all it takes is a kind word or a warm smile to improve someone’s attitude. Princess Alese made a change, not just with a few people, but with a whole kingdom.”
