I think there are many mothers, like me, who don't want to dress their kids in mass-produced merchandise from Adams, Baby Gap, Marks and Spencer, Next, Target and Wal-mart

As household budgets tighten, and small boutique stores close, it's getting harder to find kids' clothes that have that 'unique' look and are made from natural, sustainable fibers. Mothers (and fathers!) who want to express their individuality by dressing their children in beautiful, custom clothes can now turn to LinenKids.com. LinenKids offers kids' clothes, toys and bathroom accessories that are made to order from Lithuanian linen, considered by many to be the finest linen available.
LinenKids sells locally made items that are exclusive to its website, and is focused on the tastes of mothers and fathers who want to support traditional, sustainable products and prefer vintage kids' clothes. It features carefully selected boys' outfits and girls' outfits; outfits for Christenings and special occasions; one-of-a-kind linen toys; and linen bathroom and bed products.
"I think there are many mothers, like me, who don't want to dress their kids in mass-produced merchandise from Adams, Baby Gap, Marks and Spencer, Next, Target and Wal-mart," says Jurate Stanisauskiene, founder of LinenKids. "LinenKids gives mothers worldwide access to the products of traditional craftswomen and emerging designers here in Lithuania, who are eager to sell their products direct."
LinenKids is the culmination of a 4-year odyssey
Four years ago, Jurate was looking for unique, natural and beautiful products for her first son. She ran across locally produced linen products, liked the cool, smooth feel of the fabric, and on a whim bought an outfit for her child. "I immediately noticed that he was much happier and calmer when wearing linen. I did a little more research into traditional Lithuanian linen and learned that it's made from special flax that yields a linen that of much higher quality than the fabric typically used in factory-made clothes."
She hunted for more local producers and uncovered a loose network of designers, artisans and craftswomen. "As someone who works for UPS, it suddenly occurred to me that there must be mothers in other countries who would also love Lithuanian linen. LinenKids is the evolution of that initial idea," she says.
Clothes for everyday casual and special occasions
LinenKids offers a handpicked selection of practical linen clothes for everyday wear. But Jurate is especially proud of her range of handmade clothes for Christenings and special occasions, which have an heirloom look that is understated and beautiful. "These beautiful outfits are much more practical than those made from satins and 'scratchy' polyester blends. These are pieces that you will want to keep in the family," she says.

LinenKids' clothes and accessories for children are the antithesis of products you find in department stores and major online shopping sites. Unlike the mass-produced clothes and accessories sold by those retailers, which are made as inexpensively as possible in faceless factories, LinenKids clothes, accessories, toys, and bed/bath items are made individually or in small batches by craftswomen who love what they are doing and want to share their traditions. This is why we say our products "have a soul". http://www.linenkids.com
