McMinnville, Ore (PRWEB) November 29, 2010
Linfield College’s Adult Degree Program, offering adults the opportunity to earn bachelor’s degrees and certificates online, announces an increase in enrollment of online degrees and certificates for the Fall 2010 semester with 125 new students, an increase of 34% from last year. Linfield’s Adult Degree Program has seen a consistent increase of new students each year since 2007.
In September, US News & World Report published data showing that since 2001, enrollment in online college courses has increased by 832 percent to more than two million students in 2009. There is a growing demand for accredited colleges to offer courses and degrees online, as adults look to advance their education, while maintaining commitments to family, jobs, and community.
Linfield College’s Adult Degree Program offers five accredited online degree programs, in addition to three accredited certificate programs. Linfield also offers three hybrid format programs, combining online courses with classroom instruction.
“This significant growth in enrollment for online degrees and certificates is gratifying for Linfield’s Adult Degree Program, showing that more adults are deciding to earn a degree mid-career, and they are choosing to participate in Linfield’s program,” says Adult Degree Program Associate Director, Janet Gifford. “We must also acknowledge Linfield ADP’s tremendous instructors, as they are key components to making this program successful by guiding their students’ learning as they earn their degrees and certificates. Our instructors and advisors both encourage and support adult students in our growing enrollment.”
Linfield’s RN to BSN program saw the most significant increase in student enrollment, from 106 students enrolled in Fall 2009 compared to 149 total students enrolled this fall, an increase of 41%. The RN to BSN degree program is provided by the Linfield-Good Samaritan School of Nursing, in partnership with the Linfield ADP. The online program works with registered nurses, wherever they are licensed, to provide them the flexibility to incorporate various work schedules, while achieving a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree (BSN).
Other online Linfield Adult Degree Programs experiencing increases in enrollment in the Fall 2010 semester include the Post Baccalaureate Accounting Certificate, the International Business degree and the Management degree.
The Linfield Adult Degree Program is committed to providing greater access for adults to bachelor’s degrees and certificates in high-demand fields. Linfield offers continuous, year-round enrollment for the convenience of individuals ready to take the next step in their careers or toward their life goals.
