Detroit, MI (Vocus) January 7, 2009
Littler Mendelson, PLC (Littler), a wholly owned subsidiary of Littler Mendelson, P.C., the nation's largest labor and employment law firm representing management, is pleased to announce the arrival of its newest shareholder, Gary Ankers, formerly of Dickinson Wright, to the firm's Detroit office.
Ankers' depth of experience consists of counseling and representing employers in a wide range of labor and employment matters. He has defended employment lawsuits and administrative claims in various courts and administrative agencies throughout the United States, conducted employment law training and seminars and provided advice and counsel on traditional labor law issues, including union avoidance, organizing and collective bargaining. His practice is highly focused on alternative dispute resolution, corporate governance and labor relations. As a shareholder in Littler's Detroit office, Ankers continues his focus in these areas.
"Joining Littler places me in an environment where I can meet the needs of clients most effectively," said Ankers. "The firm's unlimited resources give me the ability to provide solutions across the full spectrum of labor and employment needs. I look forward to serving companies throughout the Midwest with these excellent capabilities."
Ankers excels not only in his range of legal skills, but also in his ability to address labor and employment issues of both large and small companies across numerous industries, such as food services (Sysco Food Services of Detroit), health services (Sunrise Assisted Living), retail (Rite Aid Corporation) and transportation (Penske Truck Leasing).
"Gary brings an invaluable set of skills to Littler," said Detroit office managing shareholder Charles DeWitt. "In addition to his breadth of experience across industries, he has worked closely and developed strong relationships with many of Michigan's leading companies. He will be a strong asset to the firm as we continue to grow our presence across this market."
Prior to joining Littler, Ankers was a partner at the Detroit office of Dickinson Wright, where he practiced labor and employment law. He received his J.D. from the University of Detroit Mercy School of Law in 1988 and his A.B. from the University of Michigan in 1985. Ankers is licensed to practice in Michigan, Ohio and Washington, D.C.
With more than 750 attorneys and 46 offices, Littler Mendelson is the largest U.S.-based law firm exclusively devoted to representing management in employment and labor law matters. As the only U.S. member of the Ius Laboris global alliance, Littler has extensive resources to address the global needs of clients, from navigating foreign employment laws and international labor relations issues to applying corporate policies on a global basis.
