Local business review site 5StarControl has decided to disclose secrets on why Yelp’s Local SEO campaign is getting rave reviews. 5StarControl issued a statement that small businesses are going to be overjoyed with how Yelp helps small business markets with local SEO best practices.
In an August 14, 2012 article on Search Engine Watch, Miranda Miller shares the results of a recent BrightEdge study in which Yelp’s new local SEO highlighted 8 search guidelines small businesses can take advantage of. These strategies include using software tools that enable business owners to track their online rankings and compare them with national outcomes, concentrate on lower-performance locations and increase search results by detecting keyword deficiencies, understand the ways in which users’ physical locations affect small business’ webpage popularity, and add genuine content to profiles on as many locally focused online communities as possible, including Yelp and Google+. Miller concludes that refining local and mobile SEO strategies is the only way to go.
Search engine optimization (SEO) is the ability to ensure that keyword searches place a business’ website or webpage near the top of the search results list on popular search engines and consumer review websites, such as Yelp. BrightEdge, a SEO company that specializes in providing SEO services to large brand companies, has recently paired with Yelp to increase the effectiveness of Yelp’s Local SEO capabilities. According to Miller’s article, this recent focus on the importance of local and mobile SEO is in response to increased consumer demand for “’more robust and scalable local search insights,’ said Jim Yu, CEO of BrightEdge.” 5StarControl reports that this increased demand is why they recommend that their clients review Frank Kern’s writings on internet marketing, as well as advising them to research the best SEO options for their small businesses.
Tracking small business marketing online reputations is another facet that affects local business markets’ ability to make efficient use of their SEO strategies. Negative consumer reviews can affect not only a business’ online reputation and drive down their revenues, but it can also seriously impact their SEO’s ability for favorable placement in search results with local and mobile access points. Another area small businesses need to improve in order to streamline their SEO efforts is to upload real content to their online profiles, says Miller.
Having genuine content for consumers to review is fundamental to a successful advertising campaign. Miller’s article recommends that small businesses register with as many search engines as possible in order to maximize their SEO approaches. 5StarControl advises local businesses to create and maintain a robust profile on Yelp in order to generate more local consumer interest, which in turn can translate into more revenues from local customer reviews of their profiles.
Local and mobile SEO projections, says Miller, place local advertising costs close to $24 billion by 2016. According to 5StarControl, local business online marketing must be willing to adapt to new SEO capabilities in order to survive.
