As the Atlanta Braves step to the plate for their first game of the season on April 5, 2010, the doors to Loews Hotels’ newest property, the Loews Atlanta Hotel, will open. To celebrate, Loews is offering a more upscale version of a ballpark favorite with a specialty beer and nut menu in the lobby bars of all 18 properties, April 5 – June 30, 2010; featuring Azar Nuts matched with brews from Blue Moon, by the Miller Coors Brewing Company and Stella Artois. To round out the menu, Loews has also added a local craft beer to the pairing menu at each property; the latest from its brand-wide “Adopt-A-Farmer” program, which supports local area farmers and artisans.

“With 'Nuts For You' we are able to offer our guests a different twist on traditional baseball favorites with seasoned nuts and high-end brews along with a uniquely local taste of the city they are visiting,” said Ellen Burke Van Slyke, Corporate Creative Director of Food and Beverage, Loews Hotels.

The first beer and nut pairing matches Azar’s classic roasted salted cashews with Stella Artois pilsner. Brewed using all natural, non-malted grains, this slightly bitter yet refreshing brew is the perfect balance to the buttery flavor of the cashews. The second pairs the orange citrus zest of Blue Moon Belgian White wheat ale with Azar’s honey maple walnuts for a sweeter combination. The specialty “Nuts For You” menu also features Azar spicy chipotle pecans coupled with local brews sturdy enough to withstand the heat, including Brooklyn Brewery’s Brooklyn Lager at the Loews Regency in New York; Coronado Brewing Company’s Mermaid Red Ale at Loews Coronado Bay near San Diego; and Florida Brewing Company’s Ybor Gold Amber Lager at The Don CeSar, a Loews Hotel in St. Pete Beach, Florida.

Loews Hotels’ Facebook page, http://www.facebook.com/LoewsHotels , features sample recipes for fans to try at home, including the following recipe for honey maple walnuts.
