Making IT Matter: Business Strategy for a Successful Consolidation Implementation.
Bloomfield Hills, MI (PRWEB) September 10, 2007
Logicalis, Inc., a global provider of high-performance technology solutions and a recognized leader in consolidation and virtualization technology, today announced that it will co-present a multi-site VMWare implementation case study with the Oneida Nation of Wisconsin during VMWorld 2007 at the Moscone Center in San Francisco this week. The presentation will be held in a breakout session in the Moscone South Esplanade 303 on Thursday, September 13, 2007 at 11:30 a.m. PT. Logicalis is also making available during the presentation copies of its feature article "Making IT Matter: Business Strategy for a Successful Consolidation Implementation." Those unable to attend may download a complimentary copy at http://www.us.Logicalis.com/cv1.
Logicalis Consolidation & Virtualization Technical Consultant Steve Pelletier and Oneida Nation Systems Analyst Bob Bachhuber will discuss the transformation of an IT infrastructure comprising more than 70 standalone servers at two data centers located six miles apart serving the diverse needs of the Oneida Nation (including a major casino). The presentation will detail how a pool of resources using VMWare resulted in a tremendous increase in hardware utilization and scalability, as well as dramatically-improved availability, failover and redundancy capabilities and provided a solid foundation for future continuity and disaster recovery planning.
The Oneida Nation of WI, located near Green Bay, WI, is one of the largest employers in northeastern Wisconsin with over 3,000 employees.
Like a lot of IT departments, the IT team at Oneida was intrigued by the idea of storage consolidation and server virtualization, but before their collaboration with Logicalis they had not actually gone beyond experimenting with VMware on a small scale. Unlike most IT departments, the community the Oneida IT team serves is a sovereign nation with all the diverse interests and entities of an independent country.
The story of their successful virtualization strategy, as a result, involves not only innovative technology, but also creative project management, a high-degree of diplomacy and a genuine enthusiasm for collaboration.
Bachhuber and Pelletier will discuss the full scope of issues they encountered during this comprehensive implementation and will be available for questions.
