BONN, Germany (Business Wire EON/PRWEB ) May 19, 2008 --
DHL, the world’s leading express delivery and
logistics company, recently launched its international initiative “Discover
Logistics“ with the endorsement of the
German Federal Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Frank-Walter Steinmeier.
The program’s goal is to inspire as many
potential employees to discover and become excited about the fast-paced
logistics industry.
A key component of this global effort is the online logistics business
simulation game “DHL
Fast Forward.” The game enables Deutsche
Post World Net to target talented individuals and make them aware of
career options in the logistics industry. The players compete against
each other over the Internet and demonstrate their management skills, by
transforming a virtual logistics company from a national service
provider into a global operator.
There has been significant interest in the simulation program. Just two
weeks into the initiative, there are some 2,500 registrants from more
than 90 countries. The majority of the applicants are from Germany and
the USA, as well as India and China, two of the most important growth
markets for the global logistics industry. It is still possible to
register for the first
worldwide logistics business simulation game by July 8, 2008, by
accessing the www.dhl-discoverlogistics.com
portal.
“We are extremely pleased with the
outstanding reception of our simulation,“
explains Walter Scheurle, human resources representative, Deutsche Post
World Net. “It shows us once again that
through modern and innovative recruitment campaigns, we can inspire
intelligent minds to become the managers of tomorrow for our logistics
industry.”
“DHL
Fast Forward“ is executed in three
phases: In the preliminary round, participants transform a virtual
logistics service provider into a national market leader. In phase two,
which starts August 6, the 500 best players will contend against each
other in grouped international teams. The ten best teams will reach the
final round. From these teams, in January 2009, the victorious “DHL
Fast Forward“ team will be selected
in-person following a simulation game held at Deutsche Post World Net’s
Bonn corporate headquarters. A world-class jury from the fields of
business, science and media, evaluates team participants.
Deutsche Post World Net is the world’s
leading logistics group.
Its integrated Deutsche Post, DHL and Postbank companies offer tailored,
customer-focused solutions for the management and transport of goods,
information and payments through a global network combined with local
