Ben is an inspiration to all of us and has been able to defy the odds his whole life. We wish him the best of luck and feel honored to be able to sponsor and support his chance to participate in the 2012 Olympics.

LowVARates.com is helping is helping a local Utah wrestler reach his dream of becoming an Olympic athlete.
The company has helped Kjar pay for his training to enter the Olympic Trials on Sunday April 22nd for a chance to participate in the 2012 London Olympic Games.

Over the next 30 days, LowVARates.com will donate $2 for every new fan on the company’s facebook page to help support Kjar’s Olympic journey.

Kjar was born with a rare craniofacial anomaly called Crouzon Syndrome. Doctors told Ben at a young age that wrestling and other contact sports wouldn't be an option due to stress on the skull.

He decided early on he was going to defy the odds of what was medically expected and began working hard in wrestling, football and other sports.

“At a young age I had to choose to have a good attitude and unconquerable spirit,” Kjar said. “No matter how many times I got knocked down or fell on my face as long as I got back up I would be ok.”

Before Kjar was 5 years old, he had already undergone two full reconstructive facial surgeries. When he was 16 years old, his doctor recommended another facial surgery that would have jeopardized Kjar’s chance of ever wrestling again. Kjar chose to postpone his surgery until after his high school career.

During his high school career, Kjar received many awards including three National Titles and two World Trials Championships.
After high school Kjar decided to take his talents to Oklahoma University. Ben had a successful year at OU placing 3rd in Freestyle and Greco-Roman at University Nationals.

After his first year in college, Kjar decided to undergo the final facial reconstructive surgery of his life. He met a national renowned Craniofacial Surgeon who successfully performed the surgery, but Kjar still had a full year of healing.

After returning from an LDS church mission, Kjar took his talents to Utah Valley University. He became Utah Valley's University first-ever wrestling All-American and also became a two-time Academic All-American.

Kjar will participate in the 2012 Olympic trials on April 22nd for a chance to become an Olympic athlete and live his dream.
"I have worked for over 20 years for this moment,” Kjar said. “Thousands of hours have gone into accomplishing my most lofty wrestling aspirations.”

Owner of LowVARates.com, Eric Kandell, hopes his company’s donation can help Kjar reach his goal and inspire others to obtain their goals.

“Ben is an inspiration to all of us and has been able to defy the odds his whole life,” Kandell said. “We wish him the best of luck and feel honored to be able to sponsor and support his chance to participate in the 2012 Olympics.”
