The planning and budgeting process for a “dream wedding” has become increasingly difficult in a slow and uncertain economy, requiring many couples to cut back on their wish lists for their wedding day, but thanks to one of the nation’s premiere wedding giveaways, one lucky couple was fortunate enough to experience their own destination wedding of a lifetime on South Carolina’s beautiful Hilton Head Island.

The wedding reception was held at Windows on the Waterway.

We are so thankful for the generosity of so many wonderful people and businesses in and around Hilton Head.

“Get Hitched,” an extremely unique, community wish-fulfillment campaign, began its search earlier this year for one lucky couple selected from hundreds of applicants seeking the once in a lifetime opportunity of a dream wedding weekend in Hilton Head, at no cost to the winning couple. One of the “Get Hitched” campaign’s primary media sponsors, CH2 Magazine, is currently featuring the couple’s wedding as the cover story in its December issue.

The “Get Hitched” campaign exceeded the wishes of the winning couple from Pittsburgh, PA, as they were able to share their destination wedding experience with friends and family. Bride, Julie Klein, and groom, Dave Battiste, both physical therapists, were selected by a broad panel of judges specializing in wedding events, which further boosted the event’s appeal.

The campaign quickly grew into an extensive list of donations and sponsorships that exceeded the requirements for the wedding. Celebrations Catering & Events Director, Molly Kennedy, explained that what started out as a small steering committee quickly blossomed into a large grouping of commitments from a wide variety of wedding vendor-sponsors. The culmination of the weekend-long celebration was the sunset wedding ceremony on the 18th Lawn at Harbour Town in The Sea Pines Resort, along with the beautiful reception afterwards at Windows on the Waterway.

In order to deliver a world-class schedule of wedding events culminating in the wedding, approximately forty businesses pooled their resources for the event. “The wedding and the reception were absolutely stunning and amazing,” said Dave and Julie, “and there are so many generous sponsors who donated their services to ‘Get Hitched’ who we will be forever grateful. All of them contributed in their own special way to make our wedding so perfect. Thank you so much for making our dreams come true.”
