Lt. Governor Rutherford to Provide Keynote Address at MEDA Winter Conference

Public and private sector leaders will offer insight on the 2019 legislative outlook

“Our Winter Conference gives Maryland legislative and business leaders an opportunity to communicate their priorities for the upcoming year,” said MEDA President Kim Clark.

Lt. Governor Boyd Rutherford will deliver the keynote address at the Maryland Economic Development Association (MEDA), Winter Conference Thursday, Jan. 10, 2019, at the Governor Calvert House in Annapolis, Md. The conference, scheduled from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., will address the economic development related legislation for the upcoming year. Leaders from both the public and private sectors will add insight on legislation in the upcoming year which will be considered by the Maryland General Assembly during the 2019 session.

“Our Winter Conference gives Maryland legislative and business leaders an opportunity to communicate their priorities for the upcoming year,” said MEDA President Kim Clark. “Through two facilitated panel discussions, some of the state’s top business leaders and elected officials will share their perspectives on how legislation could influence economic development initiatives.”

Sean M. Looney, vice president of state government affairs for Comcast, will moderate the Maryland Business Leadership Report. During this time, attendees will hear from some of Maryland’s top business leaders, including Donald C. Fry, president and CEO of the Greater Baltimore Committee; Christine Ross, president and CEO of Maryland Chamber of Commerce; Martin Rosendale, CEO of the Tech Council of Maryland; and Jack McDougle, president and CEO of the Greater Washington Board of Trade.

Attendees will also hear Maryland’s legislative outlook from several elected officials, including state Senator Thomas V. (Mike) Miller Jr., President of the Senate; Delegate Michael E. Busch, Speaker of the House; Senator J.B. Jennings, Minority Leader of the Senate; and Delegate Nicholaus R. Kipke, Minority Leader of the House. Laurie M. Boyer, CEcD, from the Montgomery County Government Department of Finance, will moderate the legislative outlook session.

The MEDA Winter Conference is sponsored by the City of Annapolis Economic Development Division, the Anne Arundel Economic Development Corporation and Manis, Canning & Associates.
