Irvine, CA (PRWEB) April 25, 2009 -- Give hope and have fun at the same time. How? Participate in any one of our three upcoming events. By contributing or volunteering you will be making a difference in the life of someone with lupus.
We realize these are challenging financial times for everyone--especially for those trying to balance the ups and downs of lupus. Just imagine, if everyone gave one dollar, a cure WOULD be found in our lifetime, children would have support groups, families would have a greater understanding, fellowships would be funded, outreach efforts would continue, awareness would be raised, educational literature would be distributed and the Race would be WON.
So bring your friends, family, or co-workers to spend a day riding, running or golfing. You'll save a life while spending time with them.
Fiesta Ride--with the wind in your hair
Feel the wind in your hair, on Saturday, May 2nd, 2009, by riding in the 1st Annual Lupus Fiesta Run. The ride starts at 11a.m. in front of the Harley Davidson store in Glendale, California. The first 300 registered will receive a rider's pen. You'll then rendezvous to the American Legion Hall in Baldwin Park, California. There you'll be entertained by a live band, enjoy great food and drinks. We have a wide selection of raffle prizes--a little something for everyone. You don't have to ride to have a great time--everyone is welcome to come on down for the festivities.
10th Anniversary Lupus Race for Life
For those looking for a little more exercise, you won't want to miss the 10th Anniversary Lupus Race for Life celebration at La Mirada Regional Park in La Mirada, California on October 4th, 2009. This truly unique event is supported by Southern California police and fire departments from planning to participation. Last year, over 3,000 participants joined LASD Sheriff Lee Baca, LAPD Chief William Bratton, OC Sheriff Sandra Hutchens, CHP Southern Division Chief Warren Stanley, LACO Fire Chief P. Michael Freeman, OC Fire Chief Chip Prather and LA County Supervisor Don Knabe in honor of all those affected by this life threatening disease.
If you can't run, then walk, if you can't walk, then volunteer, or get sponsors. There are so many ways to get involved, it's up to you to just do it. Prizes will be awarded in both the 5K run and the kids one mile run. Log on to www.lupusinternational.com/events/race.aspx to get started. Ninety cents of every dollar raised goes directly to fund education, support and awareness about lupus.
You'll Have the Time of Your Life Golfing
For those who love ocean breezes, plush green grass or want the thrill of sinking a hole-in-one, join us for the 18th Annual Bobby Hatfield Charity Golf Classic. You'll have the time of your life on the greens at the Newport Beach Country Club followed by an incredible dinner/concert staring the legendary Bill Medley of the Righteous Brothers. This is the ONLY concert you'll be able to see Bill perform in Southern California this year. Don't miss your opportunity to listen to the classics, "Little Latin Lupe Lu, "Unchained Melody", "You've Lost That Lovin' Feeling", "I've Had The Time of My Life" and many more classics. This one-of-a-kind golf classic takes place on Monday, July 27, 2009 at the exclusive Newport Beach Country Club.
Why Get Involved?
Because at its worst, lupus kills men, women and children in the prime of their lives. We have no cure. There hasn't been a new treatment in more than fifty years--think about all of the new drugs that hit the market just last year, none for lupus. Your participation, as a contributor, volunteer or sponsor will have a direct and immediate impact on the lives of those living with this illness.
Lupus patients are really survivors. They don't have a choice. This complex "look good, feel bad" illness can baffle even the best specialists in the world.
Please watch our new video online at www.lupusinternational.org to see how your gift will honor the courage and perseverance of lupus survivors and remember those we have lost.
Lupus affects everyone--not just the patient, but the entire family, co-workers and our communities. Be part of the solution. Sign up and get involved today. Each moment that you wait, means another life is at risk. Don't let that happen.
Lupus International remains vigilant in it's mission to alleviate suffering for lupus patients through patient services, including education, early detection of undiagnosed cases through awareness promotion, and to eradicate lupus by supporting lupus research.
