Forget the Chelsea Flower Show, for the sweetest smelling floral festival on the planet, head to El-Kelaa Des M'gouna (Valley of the Roses), Morocco, in mid May. There, visitors and locals alike are showered with petals at the three-day Festival of Roses. Timed to coincide with the harvest, it can be tricky to guess which days to plan a visit, but luxury travel experts AdventureTemples have been tipped-off that it will be 4/5/6th May this year - so now is the time to book, before word spreads.

Those lucky enough to witness the celebrations will watch in heady-scented awe, as tonnes of rose petals are taken from the fields to the factories in town, to produce precious rose oil or pure rose water, used in perfumeries and kitchens across the world. Dancing, music, street performers and delicious cuisine will make this luxury adventure holiday unforgettable, and one where images will flood back every time you see or smell a rose. Stay in nearby Ouarzazate, at 5* Berbère Palace or 5* Le Temple Des Arts, to unwind in the lap of luxury.

Combining the festival with a four night stay at Richard Branson's luxury hill fort 5* Kasbah Tamadot, in the foothills of Mt. Toubkal, adds even greater opulence and excitement to your adventure. Fill the days with horse riding, mountain biking, hiking, cultural visits and quad biking and the nights with sumptuous dining and fine wine.

A week split between the hotels featured above costs from £1395pp, based on two sharing on a B&B basis, including international flights (subject to availability, terms and conditions). Alternative and bespoke packages are available.
