The itineraries we’ve put together are the distillation of over 100 years combined experience in creating life-changing holiday adventures for our clients

Nicola Shepherd knows a thing or two about exciting adventure holidays and safaris – she’s been organising super-luxurious holidays and custom safari s for a select group of very high end clients for over 20 years through her company, African and Indian Explorations Ltd.

Those lucky enough to have experienced a Nicola Shepherd holiday will be thrilled to learn that she’s taken all that experience and ploughed it into the creation of a range of new adventure holiday itineraries designed to “Reawaken the Soul of a Safari in Africa and the Inner Workings of India”.

These new adventure holidays are actually personal favourite trips created by the expert staff at African and Indian Explorations and therefore aimed at travellers who really want to get “under the skin” of the areas they visit.

These holidays will go beyond the usual luxury african safaris the business was built on, and will include features most requested by travellers such as going to more remote areas, doing more walking or travelling by other non-motorised activities eg. horse riding, canoeing, taking a camel-based safari and fly-camping, focusing on a central theme, eg. spending time learning skills from local tribesmen or experts all of which allow far closer contact with both the bush and local people.

These itineraries can be purchased as they are set on and or, of course, tailored to suit any individual preference. However, the key element throughout is superb hosting and guiding, both of which are the fulcrum of a successful genuine safari or adventure vacation.

Nicola said “We have designed these holidays to encourage clients to spend more time at each location they visit in both Africa and India. This allows a far greater appreciation of what the both area itself as well as the local inhabitants have to offer. Clients will spend time with, for instance, the owners of the properties that they visit and therefore have time to absorb a greater appreciation of the locality and specific activities.

“It’s a departure from our normal luxury safari and tailor made vacation service simply because of the demand for these kind of holidays has increased to the point that we thought: why not create our own unique itineraries?”

Nicola’s company is often featured in prestige publications such as the Financial Times and Harpers and Queens because she offers such a high level of service that only the super-rich readers of these can usually afford her!

“The addition of these exciting adventure holidays to destinations such as The Indian Subcontinent, Bhutan, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Madagascar, Mauritius, Ethiopia, Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Rwanda, Mozambique, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Namibia, South Africa, Morocco, Tunisia, Libya, Egypt, Syria, Jordan means that we can give a wider range of people access to the kind of luxury holiday most can only dream about.

“The itineraries we’ve put together are the distillation of over 100 years combined experience in creating life-changing holiday adventures for our clients”, Nicola said.

In a break from tradition, these itineraries will be published on Nicola’s websites for clients to view, although previews can be obtained by calling +44 1993 822 443.

Nicola’s African and Indian Explorations Company is based in the heart of England nestling between Oxfordshire and the Costwolds. Her team uniquely consists of indigenous people from the destinations she provides holidays to. This level of expert knowledge means that she is able to provide luxury safari holidays and, more recently, bespoke vacations for her predominately UK and US based clients.

Nicola is also available to talk about the culture and geography of the countries she specialises is. She was born and raised in India and Africa before settling in England and is an extremely engaging and entertaining speaker for schools, business and charity events.
