Lyrical Press has announced major changes to their publishing house. Although maintaining a foothold in general commercial fiction, the house will now focus mainly on romance and erotica, accepting all sub-genres of both. As for mainstream fiction, they will continue to welcome urban fantasy and steampunk, effective October 17, 2010.
Frank and Renee Rocco have stated that romance, erotica and urban fantasy consistently sell well with Lyrical Press. With the house nearing its three year mark, sales for those genres fare particularly well on Amazon, All Romance eBooks, and Fictionwise. In August, the house reported their Amazon sales of the above genres, due to the popularity of the Kindle, has increased 75% from last year. Having done comparative research, Mrs. Rocco has confirmed in many instances, Lyrical Press’ Kindle sales are now equatable with the larger small press houses.
Another major change for Lyrical Press has been the promotion of Piper Denna as Executive Editor. Ms. Denna has quietly settled into the position over the summer, with her years of experience in the publishing industry lending her a unique perspective as Editor In Chief.
“Piper’s ability to shine as an editor while remaining her author’s advocate are what made me stand up and take notice when the position of executive editor needed a permanent fill. She’s been with us since Lyrical Press’ infancy and was the natural choice when looking at our house’s long-term success in this industry. We couldn’t be more happy with her contributions to Lyrical Press and know that in the coming years, Ms. Denna will continue to be an asset to the house,” Mrs. Rocco has stated.
The publisher adds, “As we move toward 2011, our goal is for Lyrical Press to become a more recognizable publishing house. We couldn’t make this growth happen without Ms. Denna, who is such a positive force.”
