Christine Nelles is ready to make a new home at Belize’s Machaca Hill, bringing more than 15 years of progressive hospitality management experience to the lodge. Nelles has worked throughout Canada and the Caribbean focusing on luxury escapes ranging from boutique-sized to 1500-room hotels. She will move into Machaca on February 21, bringing along with a passion for delivering world-class, environmentally-friendly and memorable vacation experiences for guests.
"Christine has a proven track record of successfully managing, directing and coordinating luxury guest experiences," said Anya Fernald, of the parent company Outpost International. "She has an understanding of nature-based hospitality and niche-tourism paired with a dynamic personality. Under Christine’s supervision, properties such as Laluna on the island of Grenada and The Fort Garry Hotel in Winnipeg, Canada, have prospered. Machaca Hill is already established as a premier eco-destination resort and we are looking forward to further cementing our position within Central America and the Caribbean."
Starting immediately, Christine Nelles will lead Machaca Hill through additional upgrades and improvements. "To further enhance Machaca Hill experience we are developing an agri-tourism complex, which will integrate the gardens and surrounding farm area into a fascinating focal point for visitors and students alike," promises Fernald, “As always Machaca will keep the focus on sustainable tourism, as we continue to work with the handpicked staff from surrounding communities to provide guests with top-notch services and experiences”.
