Irvine, CA (PRWEB) August 28, 2010
While local professional triathetes, celebrities, and Ironman Triathlon qualifiers are preparing for the big race in Kona, Hawaii in October, regional triathletes are also training hard for their own long distance triathlon, the Sport Chalet Magic Mountain Man (M3) Triathlon, the only half Iron distance race in Los Angeles County. Many area athletes and fans follow local celebrities like Chris Schauble, KNBC anchor/reporter, and pro triathlete Kate Major, both of whom are training for the Ford Ironman World Championship 2.4 mile swim, 112 mile bike and 26.2 mile run on October 9th. Schauble regularly blogs and tweets about his training, engaging and inspiring other athletes. Major provides her expertise in local clinics to help others train more efficiently and increase their performance.
The M3 Tri is LA’s only half Iron distance triathlon with a 1.2 mile swim, 56 mile bike and 13.1 mile run, half the distance of the Hawaii Ironman Triathlon. In its second year, the Sport Chalet M3 Tri is attracting local celebrities; actress and fitness model Maxine Bahns will step up to the start line with everyday triathletes from all over Southern California. To help local athletes prepare, Renegade Racing and Sport Chalet are offering free triathlon clinics at select LA and OC Sport Chalet locations. Clinic topics range from bike climbing techniques, running efficiency, and nutrition for endurance sports and are taught by Ironman Champion Kate Major together with local triathlon coaches. Visit http://www.MagicMountainMan.com for more information on specific clinic locations and topics.

Event Benefits
M3 Tri is hosting a food drive in support of Help the Children. Please bring any non-perishable food items to the weekend's events and show that you care.
Help the Children is a non-profit humanitarian relief organization established to meet the social welfare needs of the poor, distressed or underprivileged by providing food, clothing, and personal hygiene supplies in the most effective way possible. Since opening in 2002 in Santa Clarita, CA over 10,000 local residents have received these supplies. Help the Children has accomplished this while operating on a 1% budget, spending 99 cents of every dollar received on food and programs to help the needy, and without receiving any government funding. This is only possible with the generosity of the many individuals, organizations, businesses, and Foundations that faithfully support it. It is with gratitude that Help the Children is partnering with the Sport Chalet Magic Mountain Man Triathlon and Run in serving our community. Find out more at http://www.HelptheChildren.org.
