MallStand announced yesterday the launch of their campaign on crowd-funding platform, Indiegogo. Centering around the popularity of social networking and e-commerce sites, the MallStand web and mobile app brings online shopping, online food delivery, and daily deals together to a single online location to recreate the mall hangout experience that so many have enjoyed for decades. MallStand connects consumers and merchants using various social networking tools and allows for communication over other social networks.

The recently launched campaign highlights the ways in which MallStand is particularly aiming to stimulate local economies and help small businesses grow. MallStand stated, “In order for small businesses to start and grow they need an environment where they can thrive. Competition from large corporations, coupled with the recession, is preventing the necessary growth that these small businesses need.” MallStand also notes that small businesses are a significant source of job creation and they play a huge part in reinvigorating the economy.

MallStand wants to give merchants greater control over their offerings while allowing them to promote their brand cheaply and powerfully. MallStand also promotes local economies by providing merchants a way for local small businesses to sell their products online despite limited inventory enabling them to offer their customers the added convenience of shopping online.

This campaign was launched to raise money to build up awareness, educate small businesses, hire the developers to incorporate finishing touches before their launch, and for a future Merchant Tip Center to help small businesses integrate with e-commerce. There are a variety of perks to fit all contribution sizes including access codes for early entrance into the site, t-shirts, invites to the official launch party, eco-friendly bags, advertising space, and even launching into a contributor’s city.
