WestLake Training and Development, a premier information technology training company, is pleased to announce that it will begin teaching a series of management training classes called the "Management Overview Series," designed to give managers a higher-level understanding of the world of technology and web development as it applies to business. The courses were created to provide insight to IT managers, systems analysts and other professionals who need to become familiar with the big picture of applications and technology within the framework of business. The courses also serve to help managers who manage teams of developers.

WestLake is known for the comprehensive, hands-on and lab-intensive technical training courses the company offers to applications programmers and web developers. The "Management Overview" series distinguishes the information technology training company from others by delivering a higher level view of technical concepts for managerial level professionals. The management training courses are discussion-based with live examples, designed as introductions to technology from a business perspective. Topics covered include basics of technologies, such as definitions and explanations of technical terms, as well as business focused material, like how to make technology decisions, determining the return on investment of implementing a technology, and what to look-out for when adopting new technologies.

WestLake currently offers the following management training courses within the "Management Overview" series:
--Applications Development Technology Overview for Managers
--Introduction to Service Oriented Architecture and Web Services
--J2EE Overview for Managers
--J2EE vs. .Net for Managers
--.Net Overview for Managers
--Web Technologies Overview for Managers

"With new technologies constantly emerging and the business world changing every day based on these revolutionary applications, it is highly important that managers understand the impact of technology within the context of business" said Mark Rogers, President of WestLake Training + Development. "This series of information technology training courses is designed to give managers a practical understanding needed to utilize technology to the best benefit of the enterprise as a whole."

All classes in the "Management Overview" series are taught over the course of one day, with the exception of Applications Development Technology Overview for Managers, which is taught over three days due to the variety of topics covered. For increased flexibility, the management training courses can be delivered in one of three ways; a traditional classroom setting at one of WestLake's information technology training centers in Washington, DC, New York, Chicago, Atlanta or Dublin, California; virtually, via an online instructor-led course; and, as a dedicated class for a private audience, held at any corporation, organization or government agency.

In 2008, WestLake will offer three more classes in the management training series, including; Rich Internet Application Overview for Managers, covering technologies such as Ajax, XML, Flex, Ruby on Rails, and various open source tools; Portals: From Content Management Systems to Sharepoint, covering revolutionary and updated ways of collaborating and sharing data within the enterprise; and Web 2.0 and Enterprise 2.0, covering the movement that facilitates cutting-edge collaboration and sharing, such as web logs, social bookmarking, Wikis, podcasts and RSS Feeds.
